I began my career as a physiotherapist, supporting individuals to live healthier and more fulfilling lives. I quickly came to see how systems, policies, and programs shape people's wellbeing and livelihoods —and how evaluation can be a powerful tool for change at different levels. That insight led me to where I am now: helping organisations understand what’s working, what’s not, and how to do better. Since then, I’ve worked across a wide range of sectors including health, education, housing, homelessness, youth justice, and out-of-home care.

A central focus of my work has been supporting First Nations-led and culturally safe evaluation, and I bring deep respect, humility, and ongoing learning to this space. My PhD, guided by First Nations education experts, explored how 'success' has been defined in higher education policy in the Northern Territory—and how those definitions have been shaped by broader government priorities. One of the key insights from this work is that policy not only guides action—it shapes how we think. For advocates and practitioners to effectively influence policy development, we must be critically aware of the impact of these narratives. The research also highlights the agency of individuals and communities to advocate for higher education (and education) as a public good, rather than something defined solely by economic outcomes or government benefit.

This work continues to influence how I think about evaluation—not just as a technical process, but as a powerful tool for shifting narratives, supporting self-determination, and promoting systems-level change.
